Mr. Hew Chai Kee, Chairman |
|
Hew Chai Kee is a successful entrepreneur who took the
helms of the Hew Kiaw Group of Companies in Perak at the
age of 25 in 1955, after joining the group in 1953. With
much determination and hard work, he grew the
organization into what is known today as the Hew Chai
Kee & Brothers Enterprise Sdn Bhd, which included
several tin mines, plantations and housing development
under its fold.
Hew is highly respected in the Perak mining community,
having served as the Honorary Secretary, and then as its
Vice-President and eventually President, of the Perak
Chinese Mining Association from 1959 to 1972. Between
1973 through 1974, he was the Vice-Chairman and then
Chairman of the Malayan Council of Employers'
Organization. During this period, he was also an
Executive Member of the Perak Chinese Chamber of
Commerce.
In recognition of his drive and ability, he was elected
Adviser to the Malaysian Delegation to the International
Tin Council Conference held in Bangkok in 1962. In 1965,
he was the Malaysian Employers' representative to the
International Labor Organization - Asian Regional
Seminar on Labor Management Relations held in Kandy, Sri
Lanka. In 1970, he was appointed the Employers' Adviser
to the I.L.O. Conference in Geneva. Subsequently, from
1971 to 1972, he became Adviser to the Malaysian
Delegation at the ITC Conference held in Lagos, London
and Jakarta.
His services to the public were duly recognized by the
State when the Sultan of Perak made him Justice of the
Peace (JP) in 1979, and by the country when His Majesty
the King of Malaysia bestowed on him the title of Ahli
Mangku Negara (AMN) in 1980 and yet again by the Sultan
of Perak in 1987 with the Darjah Paduka Mahkota Perak (PMP).
A 'Sijil Penghargaan Kerajaan Malaysia' commendation was
also received from the Pengarah Gerakan Negara Malaysia.
Hew is a graduate of the prestigious Chung Ling High
School in Penang, and the St. Michael's Institution in
Ipoh, Perak. |

MR. THEO J. BARK, PRESIDENT |
|
Theo Bark has been appointed as the Chairman of the Bank
of Nova Scotia Berhad in Malaysia since 2013. In addition
he holds a non-executive directorship in DKIB, a Turkish
privately owned bank in Kyrgyzstan since 2006. Until mid
2015, he was also the non-executive director of Demir Halk
Bank B.V. and HCBG Holdings B.V. both of which are in the
Netherlands. Theo relinquished these two positions due to
statutory and regulatory considerations. Both entities are
part of the same business group that owns DKIB in
Kyrgyzstan.
A major part of Theo's career was with
ABN Amro Bank Group in the Netherlands, where he served in
senior positions until 2002. At ABN Amro, Theo held
various (regional) executive positions in the Far East
including Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
Furthermore, he was regionally in charge of ABN Amro's
operations in Saudi Arabia and a number of Middle Eastern
countries. As member of the North American senior
management team, prior to his last assignment as Regional
Manager based in Malaysia selling a number of country
operations in Asia and the Middle East, Theo was in charge
of Canada and Mexico. Since leaving ABN Amro Bank Group in
2002, Theo has held various financial advisory assignments
in Canada, UAE, the Netherlands and Malaysia.
In
2009, Theo was appointed as the country representative of
the Larive operations in Malaysia spearheading all
activities in Malaysia. Larive is a Dutch based financial
consultancy group which operates in 25 countries including
10 countries in the Far East. Theo was instrumental in
structuring the alliance between Larive and H2O Capital in
which H2O Capital was made the sole business partner to
Larive for the Malaysian market.
Theo received his
HBS (College) degree in the Netherland as well as a 2 year
diploma from the Dutch Banking Institute and have attended
senior management and marketing courses with the Sophia
University in Tokyo; INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France;
Stanford-NUS in Singapore and the London Business School
in London. |

Mr. Tham Yit Jin, Executive Director |
|
Yit Jin has over 15 years of banking experience, which
includes credit and marketing, special assets loan
structuring and management, commercial and small
business banking and off-shore banking. He started his
career with OCBC Bank (M) Berhad, where he was awarded
the Special Chairman’s Award for work excellence
performance during his tenure. Yit Jin also has
off-shore banking experience from his stint with the
Labuan-based Sumitomo-Mitsui Banking Corporation (Kuala
Lumpur office), where he was primarily involved in
syndication and structured finance. Yit Jin has been
with H2O Capital since 2010 years and has been involved
in private equity deals, structuring of equity and debt
instruments, market surveys and market research and the
restructuring of companies.
Yit Jin is a graduate from the Western Michigan
University, with a B.A in Finance (Magna Cum Laude). He
also possesses a post-graduate Master in Business
Administration from Staffordshire University. |

Mr. Cyril T. H. Hew,
Non-Executive Director |
|
Cyril, who is a veteran in the financial arena, with over
20 years of international financial experience in the
areas of risk management, transactional banking
services, capital markets, venture capital, fund
management and treasury instruments, is a Non-Executive
Director of H2O Capital.
The numerous senior positions in leading international
financial institutions held by Cyril include Vice
President and Head of Transaction Banking for Citibank
Malaysia, First Vice President and Head of Product
Development & Sales for the OCBC Group of Malaysia, and
Group Vice President and Head of Public Sector GTS Sales
of Asia-Pacific for ABN Amro Bank NV.
Cyril is a graduate of Queen's University in Canada. He
has also attended the Senior Executive Program from the
Columbia University, New York and the Executive
Development Program from The Wharton School of Finance,
University of Pennsylvania. He is on the list of
interviewers of Columbia University for their
prestigious School of Business. |

Mr. Lim Kar Seang, Senior Advisor |
|
Lim Kar Seang has been a seasoned professional Banker with
more than 35 years experience in the field of Banking,
Finance and Management Consultancy, in which his core
competency is in the area of Credit Management.
His track record included holding the position of Head
of Credit Risk Management / Vice-President with
Citibank, Malaysia, where he was directly responsible
for loans approval, high quality risk assets, credit
policy formulation, effective credit appraisal, deals
structuring innovation and development of product
lending programs. He also sat on Citibank’s Senior
Management Committee, which determined the Bank’s
overall strategic direction including corporate
development, business goals and organizational planning.
After 25 years with Citibank, he accepted the
appointment of General Manager / Acting CEO with
Malaysia Credit Finance Bhd., where he worked closely
with Bank Negara in successfully rehabilitating and
turning around the then ailing financial institution.
Following the above appointment, he was then recruited
by Hong Leong Bank Bhd as its General Manager to set up
and oversee its new Credit Management Division, where
the assignment had included the development of the
Bank’s credit infrastructure, installing healthy lending
practices, enhancing credit evaluation skills and
remedial management capabilities. His job responsibility
also encompassed the overall credit supervision of the
Bank’s total loan portfolio which covered the ASEAN
region, especially Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and
Thailand.
He is currently the Managing Principal Consultant for
Claymore Management Sdn. Bhd., where he has been
providing consultancy and corporate advisory services to
financial institutions and companies.
He holds the ACIB, London (Associate of the Chartered
Institute of Bankers – London), and the AIBM-Sr. (Senior
Associate of the Institute of Bankers, Malaysia). |

MR. Terence Leong, Senior
Advisor |
|
Prior to joining H2O Capital, Terence was the Head of
Credit & Risk Management Unit of Citibank Bhd, an
organization he served for more than 30 years. His
experience in this area includes implementation and
formulation of both credit & operational policies, in
order to comply with local Central Bank as well as the
corporation’s institutional lending guidelines. He is
also highly experienced in the areas of business and
risk management advisory, ranging from financial matters
to business strategies, marketing and portfolio
management. His last assignment in this area also
includes the implementation of a entirely new credit
risk management cum central liability system for the
entire bank.
Terence has also been in various operation, finance and
marketing fields during his 30 + years with Citibank
Bhd. These includes an assignment in retail banking
before being assigned as one of the Head of Remedial
Management Unit to help clean up the bank’s non-target
market names and non performing credits. He was also
Head of Middle Market & Small Business Unit for several
years.

MS. Zhan Jin Hui, Manager |
|
Zhan has been in the banking fraternity for over 5 years,
with most of those years at the Agricultural Bank of
China. Her area of expertise has been predominately at
the front line and cash management services. Her
knowledge in these areas spans from client services to
the operations of these products within these sectors of
the Bank.
In 2010, Zhan joined H2O Capital where she assisted with
the set up of various controls and processes along with
the core group of shareholders of H2O Capital. She
currently manages the Special Projects of H2O Capital as
its Manager. |

Mr. Eddie Wong Tak
Shing, Executive Director |
|
Eddie Wong, a successful entrepreneur with established
businesses around China and Hong Kong, is the point
person and originator of deals for H2O Capital in the
North Asian Region. Eddie joins the company with over 33
years of experience in the running of his own group of
companies in China and Hong Kong; while all the while
assisting a wider network of companies in multitudes of
financial re-engineering activities in turning
businesses around. Eddie is highly skilled in the areas
of corporate advisory, balance sheet management,
financial engineering and trade services.

Mr. Johnnie Tan, Associate Director |
|
Johnnie is based in China and brings with him 20 years
of vast experience in operations and servicing clients
across many different industries and disciplines but
with a specialization in hospitality, manufacturing and
trading businesses. Johnnie’s exposure in the region
covers Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong
and China. Johnnie is an associated director of H2O and
is a key member in terms of deal origination and client
servicing within the Greater China area.

Mr. Patrick Yung, Associate Director |
|
Patrick is based in China and has been operating within
the Greater China area for over 35 years. He has mainly been
involved within the fields of manufacturing, trading and
property development covering countries within the Greater
China area. His involvement in these fields have centered on
areas of planning, structuring and operational efficiencies
in obtaining the optimum level and structures for companies.
Patrick is an associated director of H2O Capital and is a
core member in deal origination and client servicing for
clients in the Greater China area.

Mr. Terrence Chee, Executive Director |
|
Terrence brings with him more than 24 years of
experience in trustee and custodial work, investment and
pension fund management services, wealth management and
financial advisory services. He has held various senior
positions at: British & Malayan Trustees Limited,a
Singapore public listed company that provides trustee
services to both individual and institutional clients,
where he was the CEO. Russell Investment Group (Singapore),a
pension fund and GLC investment consultant, where he was
a Director. Superfund Financial (Singapore) Pte Ltd, a
CTA fund where he was its South Asia MD. And other
senior positions at AIG International Funds, ABN AMRO
Asset Management, Jardine Fleming Investment Management.
He holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration (Honours).
He is a guest lecturer at the Singapore Management
University (SMU), and Entrepreneur's Resource Centre (ERC).
He is a full member of the Singapore Institute of
Directors.

Mr. Ben Lim Choon Kee,
Senior Advisor |
|
Ben Lim is the Managing Director and Chief Investment
Officer of GEMS Capital Pte Ltd. and has over 14 years
of working experience in both quantitative and
traditional equity portfolio management. Between 1988
and 1994 in Los Angeles, he worked with renowned
quantitative scientist, Richard W. Roll and Stephen A.
Ross, at Roll & Ross Asset Management (RRAM). He was a
portfolio manager at RRAM with responsibility for the
management of both US and international equity
portfolios and the software development of the Arbitrage
Pricing Theory (APT) optimization programs.
Upon returning to Singapore in 1994, Ben Lim joined
Overseas Union Bank Asset Management. He was in charge
of the Investment Research department and also managed
portfolios that invested in US, Asian and European
equities. In 1997, he served as the Chief Operating
Officer of PT Amsteel Asset Management in Jakarta,
Indonesia. He was responsible for all business
operations there. Ben Lim then joined Citibank Singapore
as an investment manager in 1998.
He obtained his Electrical Engineering degree from the
University of Mississippi and his Master of Science in
Electrical and Computer Engineering from Ohio
University, Ohio, USA.
